About Michael Jamson

Originally from the automotive industry, I have worked within logistics, education, as well as owning my own business. I am now proud to have found my way to healthcare, where I have quickly built upon my previous experiences and am now the lead at the Technical Services department. I work primarily for the Microbiological deparment of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, however I also provide additional services to researchers at the Gothenburg University, as well as other departments of the Sahlgrenska Hospital and the Västra Götalands region. I have built up good relations with suppliers and other service providers to whom I regularly give assistance, two recent examples are the Karolinska Hospital and the Zagreb School of Medicine. I strive to perform job to the upmost of my abilities - an attribute that is essental for health care. I aim for both accurancy and precision - with the goal of things being right the first time. I have learnt to be adaptable, just because something has always been doesn't meant that things cannot be improved. My standardisation of welding consumbles within my first position improved quailty, allowed for extra company flexiblity and brought down costs. I have improved standards within my Techincal Department and strive for improvement within the wider Microbiological Unit, not only for paitents but also for lab personal. Most recently I have been involved with environmental control of refrigerated equipment. I am responsible for the regular inspection and testing of several hundred articles of lab equipment both for functionality and safety. I also perform yearly calibration of several hundred environmental measuring sensors. During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, I gave advice and support to lab personal about their working conditions. I rebuilt a level 3 HIV lab into a COVID-19 research lab, as well as repurposed several lab premises into COVID-19 testing labs. I was also involved in a project to design a mobile COVID-19 testing lab. I continously aim to learn, in the near future I will be participating on courses with RISE, Pentronic and DEKRA. Outside of work I enjoy time in nature, I am often found around horses or sat in a canoe - that is of course if I am not working in the forest itself or working with / maintaining agriculteral equipment.
