I studied piano and organ to the point of becoming a professional: a church organist at 9 years old, concerts starting at 10, and a professional pianist at 17. When I took up running, within 4 years I had run 5 marathons (including three Bostons, two as a qualifier), more than two dozen half marathons, and a bunch of 16 and 20 milers. 10K was a warm-up. When I find something, I take it to the limit. I didn't get to be a CEO by 'just doing my job'.
