About Michael Jean

Michael Jean is an experienced government affairs executive and currently serves as Director of State and Local Government Affairs at NBCUniversal, where he leads the company’s strategic engagement with political leaders and senior government officials at the state and local levels. In this role, he designs and executes comprehensive advocacy strategies that advance NBCUniversal’s public policy priorities and strengthen its relationships across the public sector. Michael’s policy portfolio spans a wide range of critical issues, including economic development and production tax credits, sports policy, production regulations, and workforce development initiatives that promote job creation and industry growth. His work directly supports NBCUniversal’s creative and operational divisions, including Universal Pictures, Universal Studio Group, Peacock, Telemundo, and NBC Sports. Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Michael served as Special Assistant to U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, where he played a key role in managing high-level relationships with business and political leaders nationwide. He was actively involved in shaping and advancing major legislative efforts, including the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act—landmark bills that have reshaped the American economic and innovation landscape. Michael also brings campaign experience, having worked on national political campaigns for former President Joe Biden and former U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, where he led the planning and execution of high-profile public events across the country. Additionally, Michael is an advocate for public education, and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Stamford Public Education Foundation. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Binghamton University and a Master’s degree in Teaching from Teachers College, Columbia University.
