Background
About Michael Johnston
I started my journey with the Giants as a Day of Game ticket seller. I had the opportunity to apply for a seasonal, part-time position in the Ticket Office where I helped with all things ticketing. My role ranged vastly from helping manage and oversee the Box Office on game days, helping manage inventory for games, coordinating tickets with both the Giants and visiting team player allotments as well as employee comps. In Ticket Operations, our primary responsibility consisted of creating and managing any and all ticket offers sold through the Giants. After a year in my Ticket Operations Assistant role, I was promoted to ticket Operations Coordinator where I shifted my focus to Spring Training and all non-baseball events. In that time, my main responsibilities for non-baseball events included overseeing sales for concerts, various events, and movie nights. I was a key role in making sure sales and ticketing proceeded smoothly all the way through the conclusion of said events while proving the Giants are just as professional and successful as an event space outside of baseball, as they are in the baseball market. This role also included me going down to Scottsdale to help setup, manage, and run the Spring Training Box office for the Giants. This Sprint Training was capped off with high success and a new record for the highest ticket revenue ever for a Giants Spring Training. I have since joined the Strategy Team in the Giants Ticket Office. With the skills I’ve learned from being involved in ticket operations, I am able to think of, and layout, new creative offers to help drive revenue, move tickets, and in all, reach our ticketing goals. Since joining this team I have enjoyed the challenge of having to think differently, and learn new skills that continue to grow and strengthen my experience and skills. Sports are my specific passion, but my relentless work ethic will shine in any and all positions.
