About Michael K. Smith

I provide psychoanalysis and psychotherapy to adults, and I provide psychotherapy to couples, adolescents and older children. I work with a wide range of problems for which people seek psychotherapeutic help. I describe my general approach as follows: I emphasize working together to gain a thorough understanding of how problems originated and are maintained so that there is maximal opportunity to resolve them. I strive to maintain an atmosphere that is kind and thoughtful, and that values honest and direct communication. I do my best to understand where a person is starting from in the problems they wish to address, and to help them move at a steady and realistic pace toward an outcome that is personally rewarding and worthwhile.
