About Michael Kabbash

As a designer since 1990, I have had the fortune of learning the “old school” methods of design production while also learning to use the Mac that was taking over the industry at the same time. I have been using Adobe and Quark products since their introduction to the design world, and I currently juggle almost every product Apple has to offer. However, I still love to sketch & brainstorm pencil to paper. I love good design and drool over ad campaigns that make you think “I wish I thought of that!” I’m the guy who watches the Super Bowl for the commercials… and the nachos. As a Professor of Design, I try to relate my real world experience to my students, letting them know exactly what kind of rollercoaster profession they are actually getting into. I work patiently with young students, encouraging them, challenging them, and pushing them to find their own design voice. Whether teaching or working with clients, communication is of the utmost importance. Understanding the needs of the client — much like understanding the abilities of a student — is vitally important to helping each visualize their goal. With both, I try to relate everything in a way that is clear and on a level that they can comprehend; from the way colors interact, to the number of pixels in an image, to why one typeface works better than another. My personal design work provides an outlet to not only be creative for myself, but to give voice to my opinions, viewpoints and to participate in the amazing social experiments of Democracy and the Internet. Since the time I began Graphix4change, both the Internet and our very political system have become forever entwined. Specialties: Mac-Based design, illustration, lecturer on design, art and politics.
