Background
About Michael Kane
Entered into academic life after working nearly two years as a member of the "admin team" at Credit Adjustments Incorporated (CAI; now defunct): somewhat ironically, had assisted the U.S. Department of Education in the collection of defaulted federal student loans. While pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Psychology, I worked part-time for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Manchester as a transcriptionist of cases heard by the Tribunal (a court of canon law), and also as the assistant to the editor of New Hampshire’s official Diocesan magazine, Parable. I decided to retire from professional life after two years with the Diocese, desiring to focus more intensively on my studies—including collaborative education ventures as a peer tutor, and potential research opportunities with faculty. Previously worked in the legal field, where I researched New Hampshire and Federal law; drafted and filed motions, pleadings, and other papers in the Federal courts; and developed and defended complex case theories. Particularly fascinated with American jurisprudence and the judicial system-my ultimate dream is to work within this system to promote a more equitable and balanced interpretation of the law. A common theme throughout all my work experience has been a willingness to learn new information from the ground up, not being formally “trained” for it prior to being hired, yet achieving extremely high proficiency within a matter of weeks. Very independent and self-motivated learner, which is evidenced by current academic performance.
