I have over 30 years working in IT. Lines of Business don't always understand their technology requirements, but they do understand what they need to accomplish to be successful. The business needs to be able to do their work and security adds friction. Finding the right balance of risk and reward can be complex. I have worked in consulting as well as for public Agencies at the State and Federal levels. I have achieved multiple awards across my tenure in IT, reduce cost, increase time to market, and continue to seek new approaches to meet business needs. I collaborate with other CIOs and am happy to discuss any topic with any technologist, but. I do not answer surveys, discuss what we do or how we do it, nor do I take cold calls. I WILL read your emails and messages, but I forget to connect to LinkedIn sometimes and it can be a month before I see a message. I might not respond to your email and sending me a "reminder to bring this to the top of your inbox" just adds another email to my Junk folder which I review throughout the week. What I don't need. contractors, off shore solutions, or explanations of risk - I have these already. I know you make the best {insert tech here} but I don't focus on the next, best shiny object. What I do need. solutions to solve big problems. Innovations to address staff challenges - the challenges of cybersecurity interacting with staff, as well as the increased pace stressing staff to make mistakes.
