About Michael Keller

As a person interested in applying technology in smarter ways, I look at opportunity to try new things in the Technical Arena. In my current role as Control Systems Manufacturing Manager for Fonterra in Global Operations, I lead a team of 45+ Engineers with responsibilities in maintaining process automation and the control systems infrastructure behind the scenes. The opportunities in this role so far have included the ability to focus on ways to address the decline in technical capability to keep up with todays industry based technology; Radical automation is a catch cry which many organisations are looking towards for a competitive edge, and working within Fonterra is particularly exciting when it comes to the support for smarter ways to apply this. I am instinctively driven to contribute and share my knowledge, both of a technical nature and in areas of coaching others. When faced with needing to make decisions on change, I repeatedly come back to a total cost overview. I am naturally inclined to weigh up as many variables to any situation to get the best result. In my current role I lead a Regional Management Team responsible for asset condition and replacement planning, where the outcome is critical in securing capital for replacement of critical PLC control systems and networks; the end solution is future ready, using standards to internationally aligned methodologies, and is something I am extremely proud to be associated with. My aim is to gain wider experience in people management across varied fields, to give me breadth and experience. My strengths are in the field of electrical & controls engineering, having started from a ground floor as an electrician. My longer term aim is to lead at an Operations Management level.
