About Michael Killick

I am a well organised and hardworking games development lecturer with experience in working with different media disciplines. I have worked at Cambridge Regional College since 2014 and have undertaken many tasks which include adapting my teaching skills to a range of academic levels. I have a passion for teaching and have achieved high success rates in the past, helping our Creative Industries department gain a greater income of students for the new academic year. I have taken part in many parent-teacher consultations and organised various school trips to games expos, media events and school-based promotional events. I am currently lead the Level 3 Games Development course and the student publishing company, Rizing Games UK, which offers students with the chance to develop and release their mobile and console games to global markets. During this time, I have been nominated for the BAFTA Young Games Designer Mentor Award 2021. This has opened many doors for me to expand my knowledge and skills within the industry. I have been commissioned by Apress (A New York publishing company) to write my first games design book. I plan to have this completed before the end of the summer of 2022 to be on the shelves in the last quarter of 2022. My hope is that my book will be used as a teaching resource for young games designers who would like to begin their first steps with creating their first video games. In my free time, I run my own clothing line where I have designed and created a platform to share my ideas. I like to find new hobbies and ways for me to branch out and explore areas that are new to me. I have always been someone that likes to imagine big while also thinking about the achievability of a project or idea. I feel that spending time on new skills and experimenting is the best way to show others what you are capable of and your drive.
