About Michael Kinney

Michael R. Kinney, M.D. founded The Center for Advanced Breast Care, providing state-of-the-art services for his patients. He received his medical education at Case Western Reserve University and he undertook a surgical residency at Loyola University Medical Center. After starting his career as a general surgeon, Dr. Kinney created a practice exclusively for the treatment of breast disease. Subsequent to his clinical career, Dr. Kinney continues to focus on breast care, advising companies who are advancing today's healthcare.Dr. Kinney focused on minimally invasive breast care, facilitated by an early interest in breast ultrasound. These skills allowed him to teach and lecture about image guided procedures for the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. The imaging interest extended into Breast PET studies of his cancer patients. This focus on functional imaging continues with his advisory role for CMR Molecular Imaging, currently working on increasing the role of Molecular Breast Imaging for screening of patients at an increased risk of breast cancer with dense breast tissue.Dr. Kinney maintained an interest in clinical research as part of his work. He served as the local PI for many industry related projects leading to patient recruitment, implementing the study, collecting data and monitoring for adverse events. He initiated his own IRB approved study for evaluation of abnormal mammograms with breast PET imaging. He was the co-PI for a national study and the sole surgeon in a United Nations international study of breast imaging in chemotherapy patients.Dr. Kinney's expertise was utilized on multiple medical advisory boards such as Devicor, Xoft, Cianna and CMR Naviscan. His opinions and recommendations were sought by multiple companies in the breast care industry. His advisory position with CMR Naviscan allows him to support the sales team, provide clinical expertise to the company and lecture at medical meetings.Dr. Kinney's accumulated knowledge, past experience and expertise in breast care have led to new opportunities. As an advisor for VentureBlick, he will assist with evaluation and assessment of new healthcare ideas for potential development and marketing. With Oatmeal Health, the focus is on AI enabled work to identify and screen high risk patients for timely testing to increase survival and reduce costs. The work with Oatmeal Health and CMR merge with advocacy efforts to facilitate improved access for women with dense tissue by obtaining better insurance coverage and more available technology.
