Under the direction of my professors, I authored my capstone paper in order to complete the requirements for my graduate degree, with an emphasis on coral reef restoration. In addition to my scientific work, I am an amateur fiction writer, with various works appearing in different literary collection published by my school. I have been an avid scuba diver since I was 14, when I received my basic open water certification in Monterey, California. I have continued my certification by receiving my night dive, mixed air, rescue, and deep dive specialty certifications, all in pursuit of my advanced open water certification. In addition to diving, my other primary hobby is percussion performance and instruction. I have performed in a variety of settings and styles, such as classical, jazz, and rock. I have also participated in numerous groups, such as worship bands, percussion ensembles, and classical orchestras. Beyond these hobbies, I enjoy wakeboarding, snow skiing, and participating in adventure runs such as the Tough Mudder and Warrior Dash, which I have completed.
