About Michael Kubiak

Michael Kubiak produced his first music album at the age of 23, just two years after graduating from Texas Christian University. He worked as an independent agent, manager and producer for several years. In 1980, he and Dallas Cowboys safety Charlie Waters started ProMotion, a management company that represented athletes and entertainers. Michael also negotiated and helped implement licensing agreements for their clients. He worked with NFL Properties for the athletes they represented, and also served as a licensing consultant to stars such as Willie Nelson, Tanya Tucker and Kenny Rogers. He was certified by the NFLPA as an NFL agent. After Michael and Charlie sold their business to the Kim Dawson Agency in the mid 1980s, he went back to concentrate on his first love, which was music. During that time he started a company that produced music for labels and advertisers. He also started his music publishing business. In 1996, Michael was recruited to join Halcyon PR as the Director of Promotions. He produced music for various clients, coordinated media for the Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl Parade, and produced musical shows for Halcyon clients. In 1998 he produced the Dallas Big Band and Jazz Festival as a fundraiser for a large non-profit. That is when he met Harry James Jr. and Dr. Louise Tobin. Sometime later, Mary Kay Cosmetics bought the PR firm, and Michael’s relationship with Harry and Louise led him to work with them in deeding the Louise Tobin and Peanuts Hucko Jazz Collection of music and memorabilia to Texas A&M University-Commerce. The vast collection resides at the James G. Gee Library in Special Collections. Michael then worked for three years on the collection as a music and jazz consultant, and is currently working with the authors of a book on Louise Tobin’s spectacular career. The book is scheduled for a late-spring 2015 release. Michael currently resides in Dallas, Texas, with his wife Sandie.
