About Michael Lawless

After nearly 20 years with Ireland’s public service broadcaster RTÉ, I bring extensive experience in storytelling, media strategy and people leadership across radio, television, news and podcasts. I began my career as a journalist with 98FM before moving to RTÉ, where I worked on flagship programmes including The Late Late Show and Prime Time. I went on to create award-winning radio documentaries and contribute to Liveline, The Today Show, Drivetime, The Marian Finucane Show and The Brendan O’Connor Show. Over time, I progressed into planning and people leadership, managing teams across RTÉ Radio 1 and 2fm, overseeing complex workflows and broadcast schedules, and supporting colleagues to deliver compelling content to national audiences — including during the challenges of Covid-19. Alongside editorial and production, I collaborated with RTÉ’s corporate communications team, strengthening my expertise in strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and audience relations. This combination of newsroom agility, content creation and organisational communication enables me to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging narratives. I am now excited to bring this experience into communications and content leadership roles, where I can combine my media background with my ability to lead people, craft strategy and tell stories that resonate.
