About Michael Lawson

All of my life I have wanted to make things better for the people around me; I feel it is our duty to give back to our community. In so many ways, Americans have lost this aspect of human nature. We have become stressed with the rapid media broadcasting the next disaster that may occur. We have become desensitized by the world we live in; emotionless to the struggles of the person next to us. Compassion has been replaced by individualism. This has led to our communities, which are the foundation of our American way of life, becoming stagnant and non-existent. A neighbor is no longer a friend; they are a stranger in our suburban mc-mansion cul-de-sacs. We, as a culture, have not yet understood that our cities, the epicenter of community development, need to be vibrant, need to be multi-cultural and multi-socioeconomic, and need to be harmonious for us as a nation to succeed in this new global market. We need visionaries who see the potential in people and in American Cities; who can remake these places into the thriving communities they need to be. I am one of those people.
