About Michael Leiker

I am the Director of Information Technology at Ellis County, Kansas. With more that 25 years experience in Technology and Technical Support, I have held positions with Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas (DSNWK) and Banker's Own Software Systems (BOSS). During my tenure with BOSS I became proficient at writing banking software while supporting several banks in Western Kansas. When the success of BOSS lead to it's sale to Jack Henry & Associates, I returned to Fort Hays State University to attain my Bachelor's Degree in Business Communications. Upon graduation, I was recruited by DSNWK where I played a key role in developing their Quality Improvement Initiative and worked closely with the Information Technology department to implement new strategies in improvement technologies. In March of 1997, I joined Ellis County as a Programmer/Analyst. After one short year I was promoted to Director of Information Technology. I have been a member of the GMIS International Board since 2016 and am currently serving as the President Elect/1st Vice President of GMIS International. I have also held several officer positions in the Kansas Chapter of GMIS International including Secretary, 2nd & 1st Vice President and President of KS-GMIS. In 2013 I was appointed, by Kansas Governor Sam Brownback, to the 911 Coordinating Council. This council is responsible for monitoring the delivery of 911 services to the State of Kansas and developing strategies for future enhancements to the 911 system.
