About Michael Leland

In my previous role as part of Texas Education Agency's Office of School Programs as Director of Strategic Engagement and later Director of Research and Operations for the Special Projects division, my leadership in research, analysis and risk management has been pivotal in supporting development of groundbreaking K-5 RLA and Math instructional materials and curriculum. The synthesis of advanced research and stakeholder engagement has been instrumental in this achievement, reflecting my deep commitment to representing Texas parents, educators, and other key stakeholders in pursuit of educational excellence and innovation. My role required co-leadership of a dynamic team through a matrixed environment, which culminated in the successful submission and approval of the first State of Texas owned curriculum for Reading, Language Arts. With a focus on change management and top-tier risk consultation, that work has established a new benchmark for state-led educational initiatives, showcasing my expertise in operational leadership and analytical prowess.
