About Michael Levitt

With a career dedicated to government relations, I have gained extensive experience working on legislative and regulatory issues across numerous states. My journey began as a legislative analyst under California Governor Pete Wilson, where I honed my technical skills and deepened my knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process. During that time, I tackled critical matters to the people of California such as solid waste, hazardous waste, property taxes, and local government affairs from 1991 to 1998. Currently, I serve as the Head of Data Analytics for State and Federal Affairs at the American Academy of Ophthalmology. In this role, I leverage a wide array of traditional and cutting-edge advocacy tools to amplify the Academy's voice effectively. I employ strategic coalition building, harness the power of public relations, implement digital media strategies, foster cohesive teamwork, engage in lobbying efforts, and navigate complex negotiations. These multifaceted approaches empower me to drive impactful change and achieve our advocacy goals. One of my distinct strengths lies in utilizing data analytics and crafting compelling data visualizations to bolster public policy arguments and presentations. By leveraging these tools, I am able to offer fresh strategic and tactical insights, enhancing our ability to shape policies that have a positive impact.
