About Michael Lindhorst

With over 28 years of experience in various aspects of retail, including fashion, home, and foods, I am currently heading up Store Space Planning Management at Woolworths Foods, the leading retailer in South Africa. I hold an MDP, an Advanced Project Management certificate and a partial MBA from an international institution. I have a passion for continuous learning and development. My forte is the design and management of retail space, using ERP systems and in-house tools that my team has created to enable a more strategic use of space and product assortment. I have driven real, measurable, and organic gains for the Foods Group at Woolworths by developing processes, decision support systems, and strategic business guidance. I also have a healthy obsession for developing teams, focusing on EQ development and creating a positive culture. My vision is to head up a retail space and product placement effort that spans across a complete product hierarchy and international geography, either within retail or an external consultancy. I am also interested in raising the bar of category management with a greater focus on product placement.
