About Michael Lourie

Michael has more than 20 years of experience as a marketing and communications leader in health care and consumer products. Using a combination of strategy and storytelling, he is attracted to solving interesting challenges that organizations face when working to connect brands, products and services to consumers and other stakeholders. As a bit of a MarCom chameleon, Michael draws on his diverse background in brand building, marketing planning and implementation, internal communications strategy, crisis management, media relations, market research and copywriting to develop teams and help leaders translate business objectives into programs that deliver measurable outcomes. A few leadership highlights: Brand launch: Developed, socialized with senior leadership and hospital Boards, launched and evolved BJC HealthCare's brand/logo architecture, brand narrative, visual identity, and omnichannel campaign to differentiate BJC HealthCare in the market and drive toward BJC's vision to become a premier integrated academic health system (2022-2023) Culture transformation: Spearheaded the development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy to align core values and integrate a high-reliability operating system across BJC HealthCare, improving cohesion across the organization and setting the stage for future integration priorities (2019-2021) Organizational design: Collaborated as a member of the MarCom core planning team to identify opportunities for enhanced alignment, work quality, service, and operational efficiencies, resulting in the successful reorganization and centralization of the department (2019) Crisis management: Served as Public Information Officer for Barnes-Jewish Hospital command center operations for COVID-19 response and all crises, coordinating with BJC HealthCare and WashU Medicine colleagues on decisions, messages and communications channels; Produced and moderated the first-ever online town hall at BJC, creating a virtual platform for timely and two-way employee communications throughout the pandemic and beyond (2020-2021)
