About Michael Maine

As Superintendent of Martin County School District since July 2023, I have the privilege of leading Florida’s newly A-Rated district, a vibrant community serving approximately PK-12 learners across 12 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, 3 comprehensive high schools, 3 special centers, 4 preschool sites, and 2 adult-education campuses. Guided by our mission “To Educate All Students for Success” and our vision “To Become a Dynamic Educational System of Excellence,” I partner with an extraordinary team to: Champion, digital-first learning by ensuring every student has a district-issued laptop or Chromebook and seamless access to platforms such as Google Classroom, ClassLink, and Schoology. Advance career and college readiness through more than 25 Career & Technical Education academies and four rigorous college-prep pathways: AP Capstone, International Baccalaureate, Cambridge AICE, and AVID. Immerse learners in environmental stewardship at our signature Environmental Studies Center, where K–7 students explore the Indian River Lagoon, mangroves, wetlands, and more. Sustain award-winning practices recognized by the U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School honor and Florida’s Silver Green School Award. Model fiscal transparency and excellence with 17 consecutive years of top honors from the Government Finance Officers Association and ASBO International for financial reporting. Elevate instructional quality with an experienced faculty averaging 11 years in the classroom, over 30% holding advanced degrees, and more than 85% earning “Effective” or “Highly Effective” ratings under Florida’s educator evaluation system. Innovate in school safety by deploying the nation’s first district-wide Centegix CrisisAlert system, implementing Standard Response Protocol training for every student and staff member, and placing a dedicated School Resource Officer on every campus. Foster deep community partnerships with more than 3,300 volunteers contributing roughly hours, an estimated $1.3 million in impact, during the last school year. Rooted in transparent leadership, high expectations, and genuine care for our people, I remain committed to ensuring the Martin County School District not only sustains its A-Rated status but continues to set the benchmark for public education in Florida.
