Think your stereotype picture about an engineer. Yeah, I was thinking that too. And then read this. Sustainability should make business sense. Our job, people who are working with sustainability, is to find a balance between sustainability and profitable business in our business environment. Easier said than done but the vision is that instead of doing sustainability separately it should be integrated part of normal business decision making and routines. We know that future is sustainable and companies which utilize this in their businesses in time has competitive advantage on their side. In automotive industry we are part of environmental issues, but we also want to be part of solutions. Currently, there are lot of discussion about electrification and alternative fuels. Parallel solutions in terms of propulsion type are here to stay as we see different solutions like electrification, biogas or perhaps hydrogen in future depending on use case in heavy duty vehicles. But sustainability is far beyond than only propulsion type or emissions. Sustainability gives us new business opportunities and even new business models. Sustainability is part of business and way of working. And it makes sense. Perhaps engineers can evolve as well. Or they should at least. Let’s give them opportunity.
