About Michael Marston
For my day job I develop workable and cost effective solutions to operational problems, and develop the teams to maintain them. I am currently managing and enhancing a SET (student evaluation of teaching) system to manage operational and meta-data relating to student experience surveys in a tertiary institution. I also developed similar systems in the private sector. I am currently working on a system that will turn student evaluation data into action plans for academics interested in developing their teaching effectiveness. The primary tools I use in this endeavour are Crystal Reports (which I have been using for over 20 years - it's a good workhorse) and PowerBI. I completed a BA in philosophy back in the 70s, and a Masters of Higher Education in 2016. I am currently doing a Grad Cert in Ancient History for the fun of it. From 1994 to 2014 I ran a self-funded public access astronomical observatory and delivered talks and astronomical experiences to around students and members of the general public.
