About Michael Martinkovic

I joined HSBC in 2003 on the Graduate Program in the United States after completing my university studies in Finance and Economics. After starting in Upstate New York the majority of my career has been based in New York City prior to relocating to London in 2018. After spending 10 years on the front-line sales and leadership I moved into COO where I have been fortunate to gain a broad range of experience across both Commercial and Retail banking. Having led small and large teams, across front-line and operational business services, I have grown to appreciate the value that HSBC can provide to our clients, yet the complexity of execution within a large multinational organisation. Regardless of the role the common underlying threads within each include my drive to make things better and build high performing diverse teams. I thrive on turning a strategic vision into reality. Specifically mobilising teams with a common purpose to drive execution excellence - collaboratively solving complex issues, stretching maximum potential, and continuous learning. This passion helps in my current position as UK Wholesale COO as well has my previous two roles as the Regional COO for Continental Europe and CMB COO for the US. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling with my wife Yineth. Since moving to London, Yineth and I enjoy traveling to new locations across Europe. Experiencing new cultures, taking in the vast history, and eating our way through cities as I found it challenging to stop saying 'oh that looks good, we should try that….we will only be here once'.
