About Michael Mathews

As Airman our performance was based on meeting or exceeding the standard; however, most of us exceeded the standard. so we were really being rated against each other. As the years go by exceeding the standard has just become normal. Currently I am looking for red or blue team cyber security positions to build on the skills I have already learned. I hold CompTia A+, Network +, Security +, and CySA +. I also completed the Linux administrator course, and it has certainly helped with my current pentation testing course. I have got a great start on a lab with both Redhad and Debian based distos and with Kali now my favorite. I live to learn. I hit the ground running, and pick things up quickly. Failing is a great way to learn as long as you fail forward. Mentors are invaluable and finding one is a must. I taught during my previous occupation as a firefighter and am certified as an Instructor so I know it's a great way to learn. I have found that I am able to explain abstract ideas as well as complex technologies at any level. Hearing someone say "Ahh, now I get it" or,"I never thought about it that way" is the best. I am also a certified Fire Inspector (compliance), Safety officer (Project Management) as well as a Fire Officer (Incident Command) so leading has always been a part of my job. As an Air Force Fire Fighter I had numerous positions such as 911 dispatcher, EMT, rescue technician, hazmat technician, fire ground officer, HaMat/Safety officer and supervisor, but driving the Engine will always be my favorite Job. As a civilian IT professional I have held positions as a conferencing intern, Technical User Support Analyst, API Technology Business Systems Consultant, and Security Operations Center(SOC) Systems Administrator. Working under pressure has been my life, and I do my best work that way. I have received awards such as "Best Safety Program"(while deployed), Air Force Outstanding unit with Valor and the Air Force Achievement Medal for outstanding performance.
