About Michael Maxwell

I am a Business Administration Major at the College of Charleston with a Minor in Hospitality Management. I am actively seeking an internship with a firm that specializes in real estate acquisitions, development, and/or hospitality operations. In the long term I see myself as a member of a team that identifies, evaluates, and acquires new development opportunities for an organization. I have excelled in several of my elective courses in Historic Preservation. I have come to honor and reflect on the deep-rooted history of Charleston where everything from the churches and cobblestones to the iron gates and front porches have a story to tell. I am an active member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and currently, I am acting on their Executive Board as Secretary. I served as Rush Chairman in my sophomore year. My takeaway from these elected positions was the significance of conformity and the importance of abiding by regulations, polices, and procedures. Aside from my studies I have managed to maintain a job throughout my sophomore and junior year. As a caddy at the esteemed Ocean Course at Kiawah, I have had to learn to conduct myself with strangers, occasionally in awkward situations. I look at this as a launching pad for success in business. The art of carrying a golfer’s bag has a revered history. In order to properly fulfill that role, I have learned to hustle nonstop while wearing a smile. The stuff of everyday golf has taught me to commit and trust from one shot to the next. Caddying has fostered my analytical skills and my ability to respond aptly to change. Make a call and live with it. There is no second guessing. Someone is paying me to be accurate in my distances and track the ball precisely. Credibility is everything. While my analytical, cultural, and interpersonal skills have been honed in the safe environment of a classroom and a golf course, I am eager to test them out in the corporate world. I have proven that I can independently manage various tasks and that I am able to work under pressure and to a strong target. I work within protocol, have a strong work ethic, and I am dedicated to accomplishing goals.
