About Michael McCabe

Who is Michael McCabe? I am a Math Teacher (formerly Department Chairman) at Park View High School, a member of the SAR with Virginia ties back into the 1600s, a retired Department of State Foreign Service Officer, and a member of the "grandparents raising grandkids" cohort within the United States. I am an optimist who always looks for the silver linings in the few clouds I encounter, an analyst who greatly enjoys research and writing, and an introvert who easily masquerades as an extrovert. I enjoy working with other people in situations having some structure, such as leading interagency teams, planning events, speaking before groups, and teaching. To my students I bring an enthusiasm for lifelong learning, a love of history and a desire to share an understanding of our world, an excellent command of the English language, high expectations, and a few bits of wisdom generated from my decades of experience. To each relationship I bring a willingness to engage, a wide-ranging sense of humor, and an understanding heart (that has taken me far too long to develop). I enjoy contributing to the the development of an educated citizenry and to our expanding economy here in Northern Virginia. I hope we can remember our history, connect our past with our present, and look forward to our futures together.
