About Michael McCracken

Mike McCracken serves as the Director of Theater Operations at Bryn Mawr Film Institute (BMFI) in Bryn Mawr, PA, where he has been a key member since August 2008. He holds a Film and Video Studies degree from the University of Oklahoma (2004) and an M.S. in Radio, Television, and Film Studies from the University of North Texas (2008). With almost two decades of experience in art house and independent theaters, McCracken has worked for BMFI, Renew Theaters, and the Oklahoma City Museum of Art. At BMFI, McCracken has played an instrumental role in establishing exhibition standards and training protocols. In 2013, he led the theater’s transition to digital projection and, in 2014, supported its expansion from two screens to four. In addition to digital projection, he has nearly 20 years of experience with 16mm, 35mm, and 70mm film projection and holds certification in archival film projection from the Association of Moving Image Archivists. He has worked diligently with BMFI's Summer Filmmaking Workshop, a program teaching teenage students the art of filmmaking. Every month, McCracken runs the Open Screen program, which invites budding filmmakers to screen their films at the BMFI. He has also received leadership training for the non-profit arts community from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and IBM, ensuring a bright future for the Bryn Mawr Film Institute.
