Background
About Michael Miller
I will be graduating from Iowa State University in December 2024 with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Aerospace Engineering along with a Minor in Computer Science and a Minor in Psychology. I am seeking full-time employment after my graduation in December 2024. Areas of interest to me for full-time employment are Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Structural Engineering, or any other related engineering role. I am looking to apply my academic studies in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, and/or Psychology coupled with my industry and research experience in Systems Engineering and Computer Engineering. From January 2023 to August 2024, I worked as a Systems Engineer Co-Op at Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA. In this role, I performed requirement and test case development, conducted documentation reviews, and help to build a Python testing environment. I also produced a functional graphical user interface to display real-time networking statistics, optimized a networking testing environment, and assisted in the checkout networking development stations. I continued in this role during my academic terms of Fall 2023 and Spring 2024, and I am continuing in this role as a Intern in Summer 2024.In addition to my studies at Iowa State, I have been an Undergraduate Research Assistant in the Icing Research Laboratory as well as a Materials Science and Engineering Teaching Assistant. During my time in the Icing Research Laboratory, I conducted field testing for small aircraft as well as assisted in Icing Research Tunnel experiments and Icing Research Tunnel structural modifications. As a part of this project, I presented at the National College Research Conference and the National Conference on Undergraduate Research in 2022.During the Summer of 2022, I participated in a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in Consumer Networking at the University of Missouri. In this project, I utilized Software Defined Networking to create a novel network framework optimized for emergency routing. As an outcome of this work, I collaboratively published a paper entitled "Transmitting Information with Global-designation of Emergency Routes for Edge Video Processing"(found here on Xplore: skills I have developed throughout my course studies and outside experience include the Java, MATLAB, Python, and P4 programming languages, the Linux operating system, Software Defined Networking, SolidWorks solid modeling, product testing, troubleshooting, and technical documentation.
