About Michael Mills

I am an experienced geologist with more than thirty years working in the mining industry. I have held senior resource modelling and exploration geology roles for major mining companies Rio Tinto and North Limited. I have also worked for several consultancies including Coffey Pty Ltd (engineering geology); Velseis Pty Ltd (3D seismic interpretation in coal); and I am currently with Xenith Consulting Pty Ltd. In my role as principal geologist with Xenith, I am working on a variety of metals projects. These projects range from IGR's for gold in Western Australia, Queensland, N.S.W, Victoria and Mongolia; to iron-ore due-diligence projects in the Pilbara, South Australia and Canada; to other base metal projects in the Northern Territory, South Australia and Madagascar; as well as acting as the competent person for an ilmenite resource in the Northern Territory and a newly discovered manganese resource in the Gulf of Carpentaria, Australia. I have been the competent person (JORC) for the estimation and reporting of Rio Tinto’s world-class lateritic bauxite resources at Weipa in Queensland and Gove in the Northern Territory. I have been an integral member of successful exploration teams with economic discoveries including the Endeavour 48 porphyry copper gold deposit at Northparkes in N.S.W. and the Tongon orogenic gold deposit in Cote d`Ivoire, West Africa. Both of these deposits have now been mined. My career has taken me throughout Australia and to West Africa, as well as visiting mines in South America, U.S.A, Mongolia and Fiji.
