About Michael Monias

I’m Michael B. Monias, an Economic Development Officer with Norway House Cree Nation’s Economic Development Group, dedicated to building a future where Indigenous communities thrive on our own terms. In addition to my role at NHCN, I recently founded Monias Consulting & Projects, an Indigenous, Two-Spirit–led consultancy in its early stages. My vision is to grow it into a trusted space for project management, event strategy, and community development—always guided by cultural values and a people-first approach. While still new, I’m open to collaborations that bring communities together, strengthen organizational strategy, and create opportunities for Indigenous voices to thrive. As a proud Two-Spirit leader, I integrate my culture with western methodologies, blending the discipline of project management with the 7 Sacred Teachings. My approach is holistic—balancing structure and strategy with values like integrity, respect, and love for our people. For me, consulting and economic development are not just about projects, but about purpose: ensuring growth brings real socio-economic benefits, from empowering youth and entrepreneurs to keeping our traditions at the center of progress. I hold my Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)—scoring “Above Target” in every domain—and I’m advancing my studies in Business Administration at the University of Winnipeg.
