30+ years in event planning and customer service. My lifelong belief is that we're here to open doors for other people. The arts often open hidden doors we never dreamed existed and change us to become more tolerant and open minded. Thus, creating a more refined and culturally accepting society. It can be a slow process and therefore overlooked and undervalued. But it's just as important as the many other things our world offers us. maybe even more. If we don't take the time to break out of our safe bubbles to hear an unexpected melodic line, see a spontaneous movement through dance, or touch an exquisitely carved piece of sculpture, there's a very good chance we won't have the capacity to soak up the full extent of what the rest of the world gives us. Refinement. a word, I fear is getting lost in the fog of a crass, fast paced, noisy, undisciplined, and self-absorbed society. Take a moment to explore the arts in a new way today. It may be uncomfortable, and you may decide you don't like whatever you experienced. But you can walk away more informed than you were and speak with experience rather than ignorance in your voice. I guarantee the arts will feed your soul better than any pill could feed your body or mind.
