About Michael Moses

I'm a Full Stack Software Engineer, but I’m many other things, too: language educator, academic proofreader, entrepreneur, EMT. All of the hats I’ve worn in life have contributed to a solid foundation of experiences that inform my design - I know what it is like to lean on technologies to get a job done in a variety of settings. I have plenty of experience in React, Redux, JavaScript, and Python and am very comfortable working with HTML, CSS, and SCSS. On the backend, I've learned Java Springboot, Ruby on Rails, MongoDB, Express.js, Node.js, and PostgreSQL. As a fintech engineer, I also worked extensively with cloud computing, leveraging tools like AWS and Terraform. During my coursework, I specialized in mapping APIs, including MapBox GL and Google Maps. Whichever tools I am using, I love working through tough challenges until the pieces come together and a feature suddenly clicks to life. I’m interested in working across the full spectrum of software development, but am most keen to fill a full stack role and would be thrilled to contribute to the following industries- Athletic Performance Tracking - Healthcare Technology - Education Technology - Fintech My story does not start on my first day of software engineering courses - I have personal experience in each of the industries above: I was a nationally-ranked mountain biker in South Korea during my 12 years there. I worked as an EMT during COVID, experiencing first-hand the inefficiencies in our healthcare system and the difficulties it burdens both practitioners and patients with. I spent over a decade teaching students ranging from kindergarten to the elderly. I founded a trading consortium that used extensive automated API calls to capitalize on inefficiencies in the fledgling cryptocurrency markets. I care about making an impact with what I do and am ready to bring my diverse array of skills and experiences to bear on a challenging new endeavor.
