As the Lead Electrical Engineer, I am responsible for overseeing all electrical engineering design and installation aspects of construction projects. lead a team of electrical engineers and technicians to ensure electrical systems are designed, built and tested according to specifications, codes and industry best practices. Key Responsibilities- Develop electrical schematics, load calculations, and design specifications for power distribution systems, wiring, lighting and other electrical components- Size generators, transformers, switchgear, cables, conduits and other equipment based on load analysis and power requirements- Perform short circuit, coordination and arc flash studies to ensure safety and compliance- Specify materials and oversee procurement of electrical equipment, components and installation- Review shop drawings, submittals and RFIs from contractors and trades- Inspect electrical installations for quality, workmanship and adherence to design plans- Oversee testing, start-up and commissioning of all electrical systems- Manage project schedules, budgets, documentation and ensure compliance with codes- Mentor junior electrical engineers and technicians- Interface with clients, contractors, authorities and other project stakeholders- Stay up to date with latest industry technologies, products and best practices- Maintain accurate design records, as-built drawings and project closeout- Professional engineering license- 15+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably in construction- Expertise in power distribution, lighting, wiring methods and grounding systems- Strong leadership, technical, communication and project management skills- Thorough knowledge of electrical codes (NEC, NFPA 72, NFPA 70E,NESC, etc.) and standards- I have a strong ability to learn and understand new technical standards and codes. I am comfortable analyzing specifications and requirements in codes I have not previously worked with.
