Background

About Michael Nicks

I am a PMP-certified Project Manager with over 10 years of hands-on experience across physical security, low-voltage systems integration, and OSP fiber networks. I came up through the field and spent years doing the work before stepping into project management, and that background shapes everything about how I lead projects today.I started my career at AT & T as a fiber network technician, completing over installations before moving into low-voltage systems integration with IBEW Local Union 60. There, I led teams of 5 to 10 technicians deploying EAC, CCTV, intrusion detection, and structured cabling across healthcare, government, commercial, and data center environments. Understanding the work at the field level is something I carry with me every day as a PM.Today, I manage a $10M+ portfolio of physical security system integrations at Convergint Technologies, with full P&L responsibility across scope, schedule, budget, and quality on concurrent mission-critical builds. Before that, I managed $5M+ in GFiber OSP deployments across multiple municipalities as an OSP Construction Project Manager. What I do well is translate complex technical requirements into work that actually gets built right the first time. I manage self-perform crews and sub-tier subcontractors, coordinate across GCs and MEP trades, and keep projects on schedule and within budget regardless of environment or project type.I am currently open to new opportunities in security integration, enterprise low-voltage, or mission-critical infrastructure project management across Texas and beyond.
