About Michael Norton

I am an Ontario-born and New Zealand educated K-12 teacher currently seeking opportunities in Southern Ontario. During my time at Ryerson University, I honed my communication skills across multiple platforms and learned the importance of adhering to deadlines, being factual, and presenting information in creative and engaging ways. I also developed an aptitude for identifying the needs of consumers, evaluating attempts to meet those needs, and modifying approaches in order to reach a desired outcome. While at the University of Canterbury, I was immersed in a unique education system that championed problem-solving and inquiry, collaboration, and an unwavering duty to meet the diverse needs of all learners. My two school placements showed me the value of quality interaction and relationship building with youth, the importance of being adaptable, and the obligation to continue being a learner myself. My professional interests include literacy education, media literacy and study, and public speaking. Some of my personal interests include watching sports and reading sports news and features, swimming, personal fitness, social media, listening to podcasts, data visualization, and CBS'"Survivor"(yes, it's still on).
