About Michael Ochora

Michael Ochora is a Health Communication Specialist and has worked for various USAID funded projects in Uganda. He worked as a consultant with FHI360 providing technical support to the USAID/Communication for Healthy Communities (CHC) project in northern Uganda – coordinating the Social and Behaviour Change Communication (SBCC) interventions for the malaria epidemic response in the 10 most affected districts in the north. Before that, Michael worked as a Communication and Knowledge Sharing Manager for the USAID/Northern Uganda Health Integration to Enhance Services (NU-HITES) Project implemented by Plan International USA in 15 districts in northern Uganda. Michael also worked for the USAID/Northern Uganda Malaria, AIDS and TB program (NUMAT) Program, implemented by JSI, Inc. as the Information, Education and Behaviour Change Communication (IEC/BCC) Manager, providing leadership, technical guidance, advocacy and supervisory functions for IEC/BCC interventions to support delivery of quality HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria prevention and care services. Working with the Straight Talk Foundation, an adolescent friendly and health communication organization as a Radio Producer, Michael designed and produced weekly Reproductive Health Radio programs for adolescents and youths in Acholi and English languages. As producer, he developed key talking points/issues and messages through detailed scripts for field interviews, supervised scripting, voicing and final recording, editing and production. Michael has done several consultancies including serving as: Translation consultant for Marie Stopes Uganda July, 2007, Translation consultant for Care International, August 2004 Lead consultant to develop IEC messages and Materials, World Bank/JICA/WV, May 2005 End of Project Evaluation Consultant for CRS implemented WATSAN project in 6 IDP camps Gulu district.
