About Michael Odeh

Dr. Murad Odeh is an Assistant Professor in Medical Microbiology, Physiology, and Biochemistry and the Microbiology & infectious Disease Assistant Course Director within the School of Medicine and the Master of Science in Medical Sciences Program at Ponce Health Sciences University in Saint Louis, MO. He also serves as a Visiting Scholar at Southern California Health Science University (CA), Jacksonville University (FL), and Bethel University (MN). Among his students, he is affectionately referred to as Dr. O. He specializes in instructing Advanced Graduate Courses encompassing Medical Physiology, Biochemistry, and Microbiology. Dr. Odeh's educational background includes a Ph.D. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University & Agricultural and Mechanical Engineering and a master’s in molecular biology and microbiology from Yarmouk University, Jordan. His doctoral research was centered on investigating the role of curved DNA in Bacillus subtilis RNA polymerase-promoter interactions. Dr. Odeh has developed a deep appreciation for working with students and the rich challenges and rewards accompanying this profession. His journey in academia began when he joined the Biology Department at South Texas College as a full-time faculty member. Over the years, he has demonstrated versatility in teaching, conducting classes in various modalities ranging from fully online to hybrid to face-to-face formats. In recognition of his dedication and expertise, Dr. Odeh was promoted to Associate Professor in 2008 and later assumed the Chair of the Biology Department in 2014. He was also elected President of the Council of Chairs in 2015 and held the Interim Administrator for Curriculum and student Learning position from 2017 to 2019. Beyond the academic realm, Dr. Odeh has collaborated with the McGraw-Hill technology team, contributing to developing innovative and evolving digital content as a Digital Faculty Consultant (DFC).
