About Michael Ohara

I am a disability and Social inclusion officer. I am responsible for the delivery of the Disability and social Inclusion projects for Sale Sharks Foundation. The Projects engage with a wide range of communities, of all ages and abilities. My Role and Responsibilities: I work with the Community Inclusion Manager to develop a delivery schedule for each academic term to deliver all aspects of the Disability & Inclusion Programme, including: Wheelchair Sports, Inclusive Tag Rugby, Multi Sports, Awareness Days and Educational Programmes. I deliver high quality rugby sessions to a range of participants with varying abilities, needs in a variety of different sporting environments. This includes SEN/AEN pupils in both mainstream and special schools, impairment specific sessions and mixed ability adult community groups. I also work with Sharks Community Coaching staff on school holiday activities match day experiences and rugby development camps. I support the health and wellbeing team working with service personnel and veterans project sharks forces. Creating a safe place the participants to transition into civilian live whatever the stage. I deliver "Try to connect" with the education team. Try to connect is mental wellbeing project for children. That educate children on their mental health. The programme is classroom based and also has a Rugby based sessions to promote physical movement. I delivered The 'inside out' programme. This programme was delivered in young offender institute. The 'Inside Out' programme offers these marginalised young people a chance to participate in team sports & learn key life skills to address the challenges they face during their sentence and beyond. The programme was delivered in a workshops that covered Team work leadership skills communication skills conflict management Rugby skills I help create and establish strong relationships with stakeholders. I ensure the health and safety of all participants taking part in Sharks Foundation activities. Provide line management for any volunteers that work on the project Manage media collection with the Communications Manager to ensure awareness of the project and work of Sale Sharks Foundation particularly across social media platforms and other club media channels.
