About Michael Ortiz

Michael A. Ortiz is a dedicated safety professional with a background in occupational health in the construction industry, risk mitigation, and emergency response. Currently serving as an Assistant Safety Manager at Consigli Construction Co, Inc, Mike plans, implements, and evaluates comprehensive safety programs across multiple projects. With expertise in accident prevention, incident investigations, and construction safety auditing, he ensures compliance with industry regulations while fostering a culture of safety on-site. Beyond construction safety, Mike brings over eight years of military leadership as a Sergeant (selected for promotion to Staff Sergeant for summer of 2025) in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. Having served with 25th Marines Regimental Headquarters and 4th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), he has held roles as a Squad Leader and Platoon Sergeant, earning commendations such as the Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. His military service has honed his ability to lead high-performing teams, manage critical operations, and adapt to fast-paced environments. Prior to his current role, he gained experience in environmental safety, hazardous material management, and stormwater infrastructure analysis through various internships, including positions with Buzzards Bay Coalition and ACV Enviro. He also worked as a Safety & Security Officer at Randstad USA for Quiet Logistics, where he managed corporate security operations and ensured regulatory compliance with CFR 1910. Mike’s foundation in safety and leadership is backed by a Bachelor of Science in Emergency Management from Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a concentration in Marine Science, Safety, and Environmental Protection, along with a Minor in Occupational Health & Safety. He was actively involved in leadership roles, including serving as an Indoctrination Officer, Assistant Disciplinary Officer, and Vice President of the Student Wellness Advisory Team, as well as Secretary of the American Society of Safety Professionals Student Chapter. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Science in Leadership (MSL) at Norwich University, further enhancing his ability to lead teams and drive safety initiatives at an organizational level.
