About Michael Otremba

I never lose. I either win or I learn.“ Nelson Mandela Change, transformation and further development describe my life and work so far. After school, I wanted to study medicine. After one semester I found out that this is not for my father's son. But true to Steve Jobs' motto "Connecting the dots", there was something for me here too.I learned to learn. I transferred to Bayreuth to study sports economics. It was definitely one of the best decisions of my life. Various internships led me to the environment of the German Football League, where I worked in a wide variety of companies for a total of 11 years, building, supporting and marketing brands. After 11 years, however, I was sure I had to move on in order to develop further. I changed to a billion-dollar company. And if "corporation"- due to ignorance - sounded more like a swear word to me before, I really enjoyed the opportunity to challenge myself again and again through further training programmes in leadership, project management and interface management. Being the mastermind behind the brand-driven change process and thus the face of the brand for three years was both a great gift and a great responsibility. Since May 2016, I have now been working as CEO for Hamburg Tourism and as Managing Director for Hamburg Marketing GmbH. And again it is a topic that fascinates and excites me in terms of content. And I can bring a lot of what I learned in the years before to bear here: Know how for building and maintaining brands, leadership excellence, managing and shaping change processes. As a child, could I have imagined working in football, in business and so close to politics? Probably not! It is a great privilege to be able to fulfil so many professional dreams in one lifetime. Life is a very exciting journey.
