About Michael P. Corbit

Caring for the patient requires more than caring for just-the-patient. The health of every individual is informed by his or her bonds with both community and environment. The opposite is also true; the well-being of community, and the world, is tied to the health of each individual being; therefore, genuine well-being will not be achieved until globally all are healthy. To see the patient, the nurse today must see the world. My background has given me the opportunity to develop this worldview by experiencing, learning, and working in diverse fields and environments. I have worked in electronics, computers, carpentry, and now health care. I have organized and taught in environments as different as the inner-city and wilderness rivers. I am adept in the role of team-leader, as well as team-member. All these positions required critical thinking, people skills, and innovation; this is the rich background of experience I bring to my role as nurse.
