About Michael P. Jennison

Through a variety of dynamic roles spanning 17+ years, Michael Paul Jennison, active volunteer, mentor, lighting educator, technical luncheon host, husband and father of three has as grown to become a leading specification and strategic project consultant on the international stage; successfully orchestrating hundreds of multi-national lighting, controls and energy-savings initiatives from audit to case study. Michael's time in the field as a lighting technician provided an inside look at the true service and maintenance needs of a variety of complex lighting systems ranging from dynamic retail displays to high-mast freeway systems. Through first-hand trade experience, he has learned the importance of applying preventative maintenance strategies in the design stage while balancing the goals of the budget, owner, specifiers, contractors and end-users in mind. LEED® Green Associate™ certified by the U.S. Green Building Counsel 'USGBC', Michael works primarily as a Lighting + Controls Specification Consultant with Omnilumen Technical Products, a leading lighting + controls design agency in Richmond Hill, Ontario Canada. His unique understanding of the design, specification, procurement and construction process allows for direct, efficient and in-depth collaboration with the electrical engineering, architectural, design and construction community. Lighting Certified® ‘LC’ by the National Council on Qualifications for Lighting Professions ‘NCQLP’, Michael serves on the Board as Program Chair of Technical Luncheons at the Illuminating Engineering Society 'IES' Toronto Section where he is responsible for organizing, delivering and hosting monthly in-person technical luncheons featuring guest speakers from all over the globe. Michael is also the lead instructor for the IES Toronto Section's Fundamentals of Lighting Program delivering Module 1 -' An Introduction to Light & Lighting'. In 2025, Michael joined Canadian Standards Association ‘CSA’ Group’s ‘Z317.5 Illumination for Healthcare Facilities’ subcommittee; a passionate group of healthcare lighting specialists who share in the goal of refining best practices and leveraging state-of-the-art technology to enhance the patient and staff experience in every healthcare facility across Canada and around the world. Simply put, helping the design community stay abreast of the latest products, tools, techniques and strategies available rests at the core of his pursuit to simplify what it looks and feels like to bring complex lighting + lighting controls systems from concept into reality.
