About Michael P. Jones

I’m the Interim Chair of Emergency Medicine and Professor at Montefiore Einstein, where I lead one of the most dynamic, high-acuity emergency departments in the country. Our work spans multiple clinical sites, a world-class medical school, and one of the oldest EM residency programs in the U.S. For over 15 years, I’ve practiced emergency medicine in the Bronx and held leadership roles including Vice Chair for Education and Residency Program Director. I’ve helped shape one of the largest EM training programs in the country, mentoring hundreds of residents and students while staying grounded in a mission of access, equity, and service—especially to underserved communities. I’m passionate about developing future emergency physicians and leaders, and about building systems where clinicians and learners can thrive. My academic interests include medical education, trauma and resuscitation, and prehospital systems of care. I serve as Co-Chair of the SAEM Trauma Committee, Vice Chair of the NYC Regional EMS Council, and Medical Director of the Central Park Medical Unit. I completed my undergraduate at Columbia University, MD at Albert Einstein and residency at Jacobi/Montefiore, where I was chief resident, and I’ve remained ever since—committed to the people, the place, and the mission.
