Background
About Michael Paulin
30 years experience in the automotive industry with the majority as a leader in the electrical distribution field (Electrical Systems, EDS/Wiring, Power Distribution). I started my career in the supply base and spent the last 16 years as an Electrical Engineering Supervisor at Ford Motor Company. I challenge myself as an engineer, a leader and as a person to continually improve. I look for challenges and opportunities within myself and within the company I work for. My focus and dedication is with the job at hand with an eye on the future. A highlight of my engineering career was being brought into Ford to build an In-House Design Electrical Distribution Team from the ground up. It was the first program done fully In-house in over 20 years at Ford. My objective was to structure the department, acquire all critical resources (engineering, DV, CAD, Analyst), partner with purchasing for competitive sourcing and deliver a successful program from concept to launch. Based on the success and capability of this program, it quickly expanded to the majority of the programs engineered out of North America and then the rest of the world. In the last 4 years I expanded my experience by leading the Global Power Distribution Module Group. This included all micro controlled and standard fuse modules, aux boxes, special application modules, and miscellaneous components as needed. The team supported multiple legacy and new architectures, 7 major suppliers and manufacturing regions around the world. My recent role, as of January 2023, was Leading the Inverter System Component Design Team for new BEV programs. Although a short time in this role, it supported my goal of continuing to evolve as leader and engineer. I have been involved in all aspects of automotive products including engineering leadership, mentoring, training, design/release, DVP, manufacturing, sourcing, advanced engineering, quality, hardware/software, functional safety, and launching new products. I work well in teams or individually. I have managed small teams of 2 engineers to large teams of 15 direct reports. I adapt well in changing or new environments. As I search for my next opportunity, I am not looking for a job but a career path to something that can be mutually beneficial to the partnership. I look forward to a new adventure.
