About Michael Payne

I have over 20 years experience in Health and Safety supporting various facilities by ensuring effective implementation of H&S management systems. This includes providing advice, support and guidance on all conventional, general and industrial safety issues. On several occasions I have been the lead adviser on Accident Investigation, Audits and Inspections, thus being able to make recommendations on further improvements. My experience, knowledge and qualifications have enabled me to offer specialist advice around issues such as control of dangerous chemicals, assessing various risk assessments such as COSHH, designing and implementing strategies as well as policies and procedures. The main part of my job has been assisting in the promotion of a strong Health and Safety culture by carrying out local tool box talks and facilitating company training workshops. Due to being a positive, proactive professional who leads by example I have ensured that adherence to company values have been met. Whilst working in a high hazard area I have been involved in off site experiments which have required me to make sure that all relevant safe systems and documentation is up to date prior to any work being carried out. This would include table top reviews to capture any proposed risk, carry out process run throughs with inert materials and to finalise the operating procedure for the task. Before any off site experiment is carried out I have always gone through a rigorous process by evaluating the need to carry out any form of trials. Over the years I have worked for various companies and the area where I have gained the most knowledge, experience and enjoyment is in Health and Safety. Being an enthusiastic health and safety professional has enabled me to offer a pragmatic approach to all tasks at hand.
