About Michael Phillips

I have had the opportunity to specialize in many different areas of health (mental, physical and psycho-educational) that allow me to better assist individuals improve the quality of their lives. In 1991, I began working at the Center for Coping, a professional private group psychological practice who’s goal has always been to help prepare people today…for a better tomorrow. I have held positions here in outreach, networking/public relations and currently as a licensed mental health counselor specializing in working with children, adolescents and adults dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, grief & loss, post traumatic stress, medical problems, as well as the use of biofeedback therapy. I’m also the Director of Wellness Services at the Center for Coping. In this capacity, I have presented to groups locally, nationally and internationally on topics such as, but not limited to, CPR & First Aid, Anger Management, Creating a Stress Management Plan, Emergency Preparedness, Psychological First Aid, Warning Signs and Improving Post Traumatic Stress, Biofeedback and How it Can Help You, as well as coping skills to improve specific medical and psychological issues. Prior to becoming a mental health counselor, I taught kindergarten through 12th grade health education in several public schools. I have volunteered as an Emergency Medical Technician - Critical Care (EMT-CC) for over 30 years and continue to enjoy learning sub-specialties that allow me to better assist in helping others.
