About Michael Polazzo

As a former Forensic Counselor at Bridgeway Center, Inc, I provided individual and group counseling services to individuals involved in the criminal justice system, focusing on recovery, rehabilitation, and mental wellness. I conducted comprehensive assessments, facilitated evidence-based interventions, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to support lasting change. I continued this work as a Counselor Intern at Twelve Oaks Recovery Center, where I served a diverse range of clients struggling with substance use and co-occurring mental health issues during my internship for my master’s program. Now, I'm serving my local community in Pensacola at Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital, where I utilise my skills, talents, and techniques with a diverse population as an outpatient therapist. I earned my Master’s degree in Psychology with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling from the University of West Florida. My academic background includes graduating with distinction from both Northwest Florida State College and UWF, with a strong foundation in psychology and a minor in Substance Abuse and Addiction. I’m passionate about clinical work and committed to delivering ethical, culturally competent care rooted in an existential-humanistic framework. I've successfully registered as a mental health intern with the state of Florida since May 2025. My journey into counseling has been shaped by a wide array of life and professional experiences—from serving as a police officer to working as a case manager and even as an assistant general manager. These roles strengthened my leadership, communication, and relational skills, which now inform my approach as a therapist. Above all, I’m driven by a desire to help others live more meaningful lives. Outside of work, I’m a proud husband and father of three, and I believe deeply in balancing professional growth with personal integrity and connection.
