About Michael Powell

Michael has a strong background in independent schools and a wealth of experience in equity and inclusion work. He holds a bachelor's degree from Virginia Union University, a Historically Black College and University, with a double major in history and political science. He later earned his master's degree in Liberal Studies from Loyola University Maryland. Throughout his career, Michael has worked in various independent schools in Connecticut, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. He has taught students in grades four through twelve, coached middle and upper school soccer, tennis, and squash, and held leadership positions such as director of equity and inclusion and history department chair at the Institute of Notre Dame in Baltimore. Currently, Michael is an integral part of the senior leadership team at The Boys' Latin School of Maryland, where he serves as the Director of Community, Equity, and Inclusion.
