About Michael Preston

Non-linear thinking and a ‘why not’ mentality brought early success in enterprise software sales. Thinking big, leveraging partners, and telling the value story with compelling, hard-number propositions enables me to create opportunities for sales differentiation and scale. I have built business across three continents with this approach, and the combination of experiences and skills I’ve collected in sales, alliances and value engineering became my unique selling point. Clearly, my process begins and ends with salespeople, seeing past the groupthink, looking at things differently and applying the customer lens are core steps to defining the winning value proposition. Developing financial models that meet the real-world needs of sellers and partners by delivering conservative, defensible … and most important, compelling business cases is the final step that pulls it all together. The advantages of this are intuitive. Strong, defensible propositions increase close rates and reduce discounts, while at the same time transitioning a sales organization from a tactical to a strategic and value-based mindset.
